Your Weekly Jolt ⏳Fall Back

YOUR WEEKLY JOLT Did you change your clocks back? You know, the ones that don’t auto adjust, like your stove, the microwave, or your car. Maybe you’re still subtracting the hour in your head? We’re right there with ya. Daylight Saving Time ended abruptly at 2am on Sunday morning, throwing most of us swiftly backwards by an hour—Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii, plus a few other U.S.…

Natural Gas Storage Report Injection Season Week 30 (Week Ending October 25th, 2019)

The end of injection season is here, but the market certainly isn’t spooked about it since this week’s 89 Bcf injection ended up being flat to slightly bearish yet again. Both last year’s build of 49 Bcf and the five-year average of 65 Bcf for the same time period were exceeded along with most market expectations. Colder trends have been cropping up for the first two weeks of November, but…

Natural Gas Storage Report Injection Season Week 29 (Week Ending October 18th, 2019)

The flat to slightly bullish injection of 87 Bcf stands close to market expectations but still managed to surpass the notable historical values of last year’s 62 Bcf build and the five-year average of 73 Bcf for the same time period. The effect of weather seemed minimal as patterns across the Lower 48 were a mixed bag resulting in a fair amount of sideways trading on NYMEX during the reporting…

Your Weekly Jolt ? Leaf Peeping

YOUR WEEKLY JOLT Those colors look great on you! As the nights get longer and the temperatures begin to sway, the changing leaves from oaks, maples, poplars, beech, and other deciduous trees again deliver their short-lived, visually spectacular autumnal phenomenon. As you know, this seasonal shift quickly has different implications, involving rakes, blowers, mulching, and so on. For now, we might as well marvel at the stunning array of peaking colors,…

Natural Gas Storage Report: Injection Season Week 28 (Week Ending October 11th, 2019)

Injection season is heading down the home stretch, and another large build of 104 Bcf flew past notable historical values. That being said, this triple-digit injection did quite meet market expectations reported in 108-115 Bcf range. Warmer weather has started to get pushed out of the East, only to be replaced with weather patterns that aren’t anything to worry about. Degree days aren’t anything to write home about for the…

Natural Gas Storage Report Injection Season Week 27 (Week Ending October 4th, 2019)

It turns out the third time isn’t the charm as this week’s injection of 98 Bcf broke the triple-digit build streak from the last two weeks. While the current build exceeded last year’s 91 Bcf injection and the five-year average of 89 Bcf for the same time period, the reported 98 Bcf is seen as more of a non-event despite beating most market expectations. Weather-driven demand continues to be shed,…

Renewable Energy Generation: U.S. Energy Information Administration Report Projects Approximately 50% Worldwide Contribution by 2050

The United States Energy Information Administration (“EIA”) stated in an October 2nd report that renewable energy will constitute approximately 49% of global electricity generation by 2050. In 2018 28% of available electricity was generated from renewable energy sources. As to allocation of contribution among the top three renewable sources, EIA projects solar’s share will grow the fastest. Hydroelectric’s share is projected to grow the slowest. The projected increase is stated…

Your Weekly Jolt: Happy Autumn!

Despite what the thermometer says, today really is the first day of fall! Temperatures are well into the 80’s throughout the region which is good news for those with Seasonal Affective Disorder, but bad news for everyone who has already shut off their AC (Really people, it’s ok to turn it back on for a day). Nevertheless, we are undaunted by mercury’s rollercoaster and happily bring you this week’s Jolt. HEATING OIL  Prompt-month heating…
